Every year, Advantage Fencing of Omaha participates in a heartwarming event that’s very dear to us – the annual Lymphomathon held at Mahoney State Park. The event isn’t just a day in the park for us, but rather, it’s a celebration of life and resilience in the face of adversity. This year, however, the event is of particular significance, as it marks the ten-year anniversary of the remission of our founder, Mike Paladino, from lymphoma.
Mike’s Journey
A decade ago, Mike battled and conquered lymphoma, demonstrating immense courage and strength. His journey with the illness transformed him, giving him an added zeal for life and an unwavering belief in the power of community and solidarity. The annual participation in the Lymphomathon isn’t merely a walk in the park, but a symbol of Mike’s triumph over a life-altering obstacle.
The Lymphomathon
The Lymphomathon is a 5K walk dedicated to all those touched by lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects millions worldwide. The event provides an opportunity for survivors, families, and communities to come together, share their experiences, and raise funds for lymphoma research and support. It also offers a platform to raise awareness about lymphoma, an often overlooked form of cancer.
Celebrating a Milestone
This year, the event, scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, takes on an added layer of significance for the Advantage Fencing family. It marks a decade since Mike’s remission, a milestone that we’re incredibly proud to celebrate. Mike’s journey has been an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to marking this special occasion surrounded by friends, family, and community.
More Than Just a Walk
The Lymphomathon is more than just a 5K walk. The event also includes a complimentary BBQ and various fun-filled activities for kids, making it a family-friendly day of solidarity, hope, and celebration. We encourage everyone, regardless of age or fitness level, to join us and make a difference. Whether you choose to walk, run, volunteer, or simply cheer the participants, your presence contributes to the atmosphere of communal support that is so integral to the event.
Join Us Next Year in the Celebration
As we gear up for this year’s Lymphomathon, we invite all our friends, family, and customers to join us. Your participation and support will not only honor Mike’s journey but also bring hope to those currently battling lymphoma and contribute to the vital research aimed at combating this disease.
We are looking forward to an unforgettable day filled with laughter, shared stories, and the joy of walking together for a cause close to our hearts. Let’s celebrate Mike’s ten years of being cancer-free and hope for a future where we can beat lymphoma together. See you on April 18th at Mahoney State Park!
